Compute Environments need a description field

Right now we don't have a good way to communicate easily to our users what each Compute Environment (CE) registered in the Seqera Platform workspace should be used for and what resources it contains. Especially because we are using Terraform to create the AWS Batch CE then manually register it in Seqera Platform. It leads to users choosing the wrong CE for their workloads or just always being unsure of which one they should use.
It would be a lot easier if we could simply have our Terraform populate a
Description
field for each Seqera CE, the same way you can for pipelines in the launchpad, so that they could see descriptive info about it. We would be able to populate the Description
field ourselves with things such as AWS SPOT
vs On Demand
, EC2 types included, Fusions + Wave configuration, etc., and other plain text details that would be helpful for them. A lot of these details are impossible to see in Seqera Platform right now especially if you are using Manually registered externally created & managed CE's.

100% agree. We have been building separate documentation around it for a long time now. It is annoying.

Decent Macaw same here, we have tried to maintain separate docs for these things, but of course they end up being hosted on a completely separate website (which the users dont know exists or forget to refer to) and that website frequently falls out of date as soon as we update CE configs.
